My Bell Peppers Are Blackening

My bell peppers are blackening as they grow. What could be the cause? Some fruits are turning black on the outer side and the blackening seems to be starting from the tip of the fruit upwards. It is also only on the outer side, and not on the side facing the plant. Please help.
