My 2 Three Year Palmetto Palms Are Showing Some White Spots On The New Fronds. They Don’t Seem To Be Something Living.

See the 2 pictures attached. We live 30 minutes southwest of Charlotte, but in SC. Both at planted close to our house. Please send an email response but you can also post on your site.

This looks a lot like palmetto scale, or Comstockiella sabalis Comstock. This immobile insect will do some damage, but is easily controlled. The use of a parasitoid will be all that it takes. This species is Coccobius donatellae.
