My 1 year old avocado plant stopped growing

I’m a complete beginner when it comes to gardening. I’ve managed to grow an avocado plant from seed and I feel like I’ve done something wrong in the process (probably when I cut it) because 1) it looks weird. I may not be an expert but I’m pretty sure this isn’t what it’s supposed to look like and 2) it stopped growing. It keeps making small leaves, they dry and then they fall off and the process repeats itself. I will attatch a picture. If someone can tell me why they think it looks like this and what I can do to help it, I’d be very grateful.

Browning leaf tips are often a sign of salt burn, caused by a salt build up in the soil. Salts in the water and in fertilizer build up over time.
This excess salt accumulates in the leaf edges, where it kills the tissue and the leaf dries out and turns brown. It’s important to water deeply and slowly. At least once a month, water deeply enough to “leach” or push salts well below the root zone. Frequent, light “sprinklings” allow salts to accumulate in the top layers of soil, where the roots are.
Similar symptoms occur when too much fertilizer has been applied. Always water plants thoroughly before and after applying fertilizer to help prevent burn.
You can also make sure you leave water to sit out on a counter for at least 48 hours before using to water your plants or use distilled water.
