Multi Head Sagos

I have two sago palms out front that have developed multiple (and unruly) heads. One has 5 and the other 3. The trunks at 10-12 in in diameter and 24 inches tall. The plants are probably 10 years old. Should I cut the trunks off near the ground and hope they grow singularly again? If so, when should this be done?

Yes, you can. Those are called pups. There are directions on how to do that at the bottom of this article: [1]
