Mrs. N. Thompson clematis

i want some tips on planting my clematis! i wanna know why when i bought it the roots were up above dirt so do leave them above the ground or cover them with dirt since i read that they are not to get any sun and need to be covered by something like mulch! my first clematis and i really want it to be successful!

You should plant the Clematis as the same level it was in the container.
