Lumpy Zucchini

Our zucchini plants are beautiful and we have other squash growing. The problem is they do not grow the same width. They are not slender. They get lumpy and soft, and are about 7 inches long. We have never had a problem before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like the squash are being pollinated unevenly. This results in only some seeds growing and results in a deformed fruit. These articles may help:
