Letting vegetable garden lay fallow for year

We are planning to let our garden rest for a year. I was wondering what is the best to cover it with? I had thought of buying clear plastic to stake down and/or keep in place with logs and stumps. I’ve just tilled and cleaned it out and hope to cover it the next couple days.

Thank you.

Covering the soil and garden for an entire year is not the best solution.

The soil needs sunshine and oxygen.

You also may uncover the garden in one year and find weeds, pests and rodents have turned your garden into their playground.

I would suggest planting a cover crop. This can rejuvenate the soil and keep weeds under control.
