Many leaves have fallen off, and now the tip of the tree is starting to wilt and shrivel. Would cutting off the dead tip promote growth, or is the tree destined to die? The dead tip is the very top of the tree. Thank you, Laura

It seems small for a two year old tree. Was it grown from a seed? You can go ahead and trim the tip off; it may encourage branching.
I am wondering if it is being overwatered. Here are some possible reasons for leaf drop:
