Lemon tree leaves used as mulch

I used small branches and leaves of lemon trees for mulch in my veggie garden. After about a month, my veggies died. Any advice?

Leaves can certainly be used to mulch around vegetables and flowers.
You do need to shred the leaves first. If you don’t shred the leaves, they can block air and water from reaching your plant.
You also need to make sure that you don’t apply to thick of a layer of the mulched leaves.
