large root-bound hibiscus

I have had a hibiscus plant for many years and it has been repotted several times to accomodate its growth. Now it is very rootbound and I cannot put it in a larger container. Even if I could find a larger one, it would be impossible to turn or move the tree. Should I root prune? How?

Yes, you can root prune the Hibiscus if you want it to stay the same size.
Pruning back about 1/3 of the roots will be fine.
