Lack of female flowers on squash

We have two raised beds, one each with yellow squash and zucchini. The plants are growing vigorously, blooming for about three weeks now, but they are putting out almost all male flowers. The plants are rather closely spaced and have not yet been fed this year. We are near Minneapolis, where we’ve had a very hot summer. These plants are well-irrigated, but not excessively. They produced well in the same beds last year.

If you recommend a plant food, what would you suggest?

Thank you!

This is typical behavior for a squash plant. They will produce mostly male (non-fruiting) blossoms early in the season and will gradually start to produce more female blossoms as the season progresses. The male blossoms typically drop from the plant and seemingly disappear. Give it some time and you will see it start fruiting.
