kalanchoe plant

My kalanchoe plant stems have become very long and some of the stems are turning brown at the bottom and extending farther up the plant. Am I overwatering – not enough light?? It was my mom’s plant and I have had it about a year and 1/2. The tips of the stems are producing new leaves, but it is looking more like a vine plant and not very compacted. Suggestions?

Lack of proper light can cause your plant to become leggy. You can prune it back to shape the plant and keep it from becoming top heavy.
Make prune cuts at forked intervals or remove any branches that are wayward.
Flowers should be pinched off of the plant after blooming.
