Italian Honey Fig

I live in Phoenix, AZ, and have a little 2 gallon Italian Honey Fig that I want to plant into the ground. In order to determine where in my yard to plant it, I need to know: how much sun should I give it, being it gets 110+ degrees here much of the summer?
Thank you,
J & B.

Full sun is typically needed for this fig variety to ripen fruit, but that won’t be necessary until it is larger and established. If you can provide it with some sort of temporary shade while it gets established, then remove when it is larger, that would be ideal.

To prevent heat and drought damage, you can whitewash the trunk and mulch around the root area to conserve water.
