Quack grass and Heath (or Heather grass) are two different grasses.
Are you sure it is heather in the lawn? That is not something that typically grows in your area, though perhaps it is a region specific common name for some other plant.
Can you send a picture of the plant you are trying to get rid of and we can ID it with its botanical name and recommend the right course of treatment for it.
