Is It To Late Too Plant A Potted Hydrangea

I received a beautiful hydrangea for mother’s day and it’s still in the pot. I wanted to plant it today, but google is saying planting in the fall is best. I’m from CT and it’s starting to get warmer. Any suggestions on how to plant and should I wait?

It depends on how close to warm summer temperatures you are and if close, do you have time to test soil moisture almost daily and monitor afternoon wilting episodes.
