Is it ok to use mulch on a Meyer Lemon tree?

This tree is planted outside and it gets morning sun and afternoon shade.

There should be no reason not to mulch.

Mulching will help with moisture retention. Do keep the mulch away from the trunk of the tree to avoid causing fungus problems. A 6 inch area around the base of the trunk should be fine.
