is it ok to use liquid fertilizer instead of granular?

By the time i finish applying granular organic fertilizer, my garden of shrubs, trees, and perennials gets overgrown by weeds and grass. I want to use a liquid hydrolyzed fish and kelp liquid fertilizer or other good organic liquid as a soil drench spring through summer and forget about using a granular fertilizer, as it’s too huge a job for me and I can’t afford to hire help. Is that a reasonable plan?

Thank you, val gross

The use of liquid or granular fertilizer is completely acceptable. You may, however, find liquid fertilizer to be somewhat more labor intensive as it has to be applied more often than its granular counterpart.
