If your plant is a tropical hibiscus, using a plant light is recommended to keep it healthy over the winter. If it is native to temperate climates, the plant light is less needed but will still be beneficial and will help prevent stress. Overwintering in near-darkness is also an option in that case, but the tree will likely lose all its leaves. It should recover in the spring though.
