Impatiens disease

My impatiens are wilting and dying. It is not due to lack of water. The stem near the ground turns black and the plant dies. These are plants in baskets.

Sounds like your impatiens have a fungal disease commonly called leaf spot. It’s carried by insects, usually thrips and there’s no guaranteed treatment. You can try an all purpose fugicide, but your best bet may be to pull and destraoy the plants. Sorry.
