I live in an apartment Mandurah, WA. Can you please advise trees or shrubs I can plant in containers

I would enjoy shade or flowering and not a deciduous plant .. at present, I have a pink flowering crape lilac?? On good advise it was purchased as a container plant.
This is it’s third-year, it comes out of its winter sleep get plenty of foliage no flowers.
