magnolia tree problem

I have a young growing magnolia tree, no flowers yet. Problem: leaves turning yellow with brown spots. They eventually drop off. Well watered plant I think. It is presently potted in a 20 gallon container, changed container this year. I sprinkled some organic fertilizer over the mulch. The other websites talk too much without any pictures of the problem. I’ve noticed green leaves turn yellow, not all of them. Brown spots, leaf dies. I need answers please. How much more info do you need?

Leaf yellowing (known as chlorosis) and loss can be caused by nutrient deficiencies, such as of nitrogen or iron. Brown circular spots near the leaf edges can indicate Anthracnose disease. Pestalotiopsis and bacterial blight are other diseases that can cause brown spots on leaves.
