I Have A Potted Key Lime Plant That Has Dropped Yellowed Leaves Every Day And Generally Deteriorated After Producing Over 100 Fruit

s.OTTE From many web sites, I’ve read that yellowed leaves that drop off usually means over or under watering or fertilizing. This plant was in a pot that only measured 12 3/4 inches at its upper diameter. I have now removed the plant from the noted pot, cleaned the root ball, added the appropriate new soil in a 14.5-inch diameter pot; now the plant now looks healthy with no further yellowing leaves dropping off. It appears that the EXACT reason for my plant’s deterioration is that it had become “root bound” in its original pot and not because it had root rot or was over or under watered or fertilized. DO YOU AGREE WITH MY ASSESSMENT? ALTHOUGH I HAVEN’T TRIED IT, IS ACCEPTABLE TO USE MIRACLE GROW WATER SOLUBLE FERTILIZER ON A KEY LIME POTTED PLANT?

Yes, it sounds like you did the right thing. When a pot is rootbound, it can prevent the plant from taking up enough moisture, thus giving the symptoms of too little water.

You can try the Miracle Grow water soluable, but I didn't see one that had the suggested NPK ratio like the citrus fertilizers do.
