I cut off all of my gardenias, the big green leaves, and left only the new growth.

Will this hurt my gardenia?

Your gardenia will probably recover, but in the future, your gardenia only needs light pruning soon after a bloom cycle. You can remove dead or broken branches at any time. And it’s best not to remove more than 1/3 of a shrub at any time.
