I Ahve Duranta Sapphire Showers Growing In My Yard. They Have Some Other Type Of Plant Growing From Trunk.

I have 5 duranta sapphire showers plants growing in my yard. They all have what appears to be a different kind of plant growing from main trunk. The leaves are different and they dont have any flowers on the branches. In one of the pictures you can clearly see this branch growing from main trunk. Do I cut them off, and then continue to keep them trimmed. They have grow at least a foot from the main trunk.

It is definitely new growth from the same plant. Do not cut it off.
