Hydrangea in Hibernation

I have 3 pots of hydrangeas that I put in the basement over winter to let hibernate. I did not water them. I brought them out a month ago onto my very sunny deck. They do not look dead, but nothing is happening. I pruned them after I brought them outside in May. . . did I do something wrong? Should I plant them in the ground or keep watering them in the pots and wait?

It doesn’t look good for your hydrangeas. Either they dried out too much during storage, or they got too much sun and burned. You can try planting them in the ground and hope for the best. Next time, try giving your winter stored plants a light watering once a month. Sorry the news isn’t better.
