Hyacinth Bean Plants Are Yellow…no Green!!

We have had a substantial amount of rain, but they have never turned this color before.

Since they have brown spots, too, it is probably a fungal issue. The excess rain didn't help, though, so be sure the soil is well draining and dries out between waterings.

Check the undersides of leaves for pests such as aphids. Insecticidal soap or Neem oil will help.

If the container soil is reused each year for the vine, it could be due to lack of nutrients as well. If you haven't fertilized, use an all purpose 10-10-10 fertilizer.

Discard the leaves as they drop and try spraying with Neem oil fungicide or other fungicides for leaf spot disease. Fungicides are best used as a preventative. After the fact, they can reduce the spread.
