You can try inserting a few toothpicks or small nails into the pit adn then put it in a glass container or jar. The toothpicks or nails should rest on the edge of the container to keep the pit from falling to the bottom. Pour water into the container so that it reaches midway of the apricot pit. Then set it in a windowsill and within a few weeks, it should begin rooting. At that time you can plant the pit in a pot with well-draining potting soil.
