How To Revive An Abutilon

Left my abutilon in the care of friends. Very hot days. Cool to cold nights. All large leaves, flowers and healthy buds dropped off and I was left with twigs with tiny leaves. What to do next?

I suggest pruning it back by a third and giving it some protection from winter weather. Here are some tips:
