corn plant lost bottom leaves as new leaf grew. Six foot tall has single leaf only. Can leaves be forced to grow on lower stalk or can stalk be cut up for propagating

Yes, cutting off the top will force new growth at the bottom and the trimmings can be used for propagation. However, healthy cuttings will propagate best. Here is more:
