How To Propagate Cantua Plant

I have a 5 ft. tall Cantua shrub (Sacred Flower of the Incas). It flowers annually. I want to clone it by taking a cutting from a limb. Should the cutting be from a newer sprig or from an older sprig? In what growing medium should I use? Since I am a novice I need a detailed step by step process. I’ve tried several times however I haven’t been able to get the cuttings to root. Thanks
