How to Get Rid of Thick Underground Fungus

I believe that I have an abundance of water problems in my front yard, as large glacier-type fungus grow by my sprinkler heads and also inside the box where the water meter is located near the front edge of lawn. How can I rid my lawn of these ‘creatures’ other than digging up all the areas where I find them? I did this twice already and they keep coming back. I did add some organic lawn soil to the areas after removing the ‘creatures’. Was this a bad idea?

Your best bet would be to dig as much of the fungus out as possible and treat the area with a fungicide. Repeat with the fungicide treatment once a week or two for a few months after this. Yes, placing the organic lawn soil to the area probably helped them grow back as they need organic material to grow in.
