Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI bought delphinium, already in bloom with a long spike with flowers and a small cluster of flowers at the base. Do I need to remove the spike that now looks finished? how do I prune or deadhead this plant?

Yes, you can prune the spikes when the blooms fade for perennial delphinium. You may get a second showing later. Here is more:

If you have the annual larkspur, also called delphinium, you can leave the bloom stalks so they will go to seed. Then they will return next spring.
