They can tolerate quite a bit of sun, but if you want them to look their best, you will want to shade them from the afternoon sun. Really, they will tolerate full sun, but if you can- give them just a little shade during the intense afternoon sun. Also, it would really help to put them in light colored pots to avoid too much heat to the roots.
