How Do I Cut Back An Over Grown Yucca For The Winter In Texas?

I live in South Texas and I am winterizing my flower bed. I am unfamiliar with what tools to use on Yucca as well as prickly pear cactus when cutting them back for winter.

Please send instructions as well as proper tools to use.
