Houseplant Basil leaves shrivel

I have a Basil plant inside with several hours of indirect sun. Many leaves consistently shrivel and die. Am I overwatering? I water about 1/2 cup every 2-3 days. Thank you.

They sound like they are being overwatered. This is either causing damping off or root rot. When you plant, make sure that you use a container that drains well and only water when the soil on top is dry to the touch.
