Hole in Basil Plant

Hi! The leaves on my basil plant are turning yellow and some have holes in them. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Thank you.

It is slugs. They LOVE basil and only come out at night, so it often appears that the holes mysteriously appear. The damage can then cause yellowing.
