Hibiscus Near Little Gem Magnolias

Hello – I’m seeking some guidance about hibiscus plants next to little gem magnolia trees. My magnolias are loosing leaves (although they are growing buds to flower right now). I am concerned the hibiscus are sucking all the water and nutrients away from my magnolias. If that’s not the case, how do I get my magnolias to grow more leaves and ‘fill in’? Thanks! (I already posted this but didn’t include a picture. Reposting with a photo for clarity.)
