When you first get one of these, they usually have the false flower that you see already on them. This plant will never bloom again, and will die after completing the bloom cycle.
The pups will flower, but it can take quite awhile. The trick will be perfect proper care. This article will guide you on the care of these: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/houseplants/bromeliad/getting-bromeliads-to-bloom.htm [1]
