Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comIhave an Althea in my garden border, it is covered with blooms and buds beyond count. It is about 4′ w and 6′ high. It does not appear all these buds will bloom. Is the plant deficient or is it the nature of the plant. I don’t want the plant to take over, how severely can it be pruned? Thankxs!

Many of these blooms will open in succession, or one after another. They won’t last very long either. This is the natural process. This article will give you more information on when to prune these: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/shrubs/rose-of-sharon/pruning-rose-of-sharon.htm [1]
