Growing Trees Indoors In The Winter?

We have three tree saplings we started in pots earlier this spring, 1 red bud and 2 soft maples. We kept them outside throughout the summer and they were doing great. We brought them inside for the winter and their leaves are yellowing and falling off. This is the time of year for leaves to fall but I’m nervous we’re not doing something right.

I suspect the change in environment caused some stress and the resulting leaf drop. I would cut back on the water and keep them in a cool but light location in the home. The goal is to make it through the winter and get them back outside in the spring.
