Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comMy friend gave me a branch from her mature fig tree (CA). I think it is a mission fig. I placed it in soil in a barrel but no stems or leaves are growing. It looks like small growths are appearing. How do I care for it in a large barrel, how often do I water it in CA summer, do I fertilize, and should it be in full sun?

It's going to take a while before it will be ready to plant. Keep it watered, but don't drown it. I'm not sure what kind of soil you have- it may take well to a light fertilizing, but it will get started in its own time. Light is good; hot sun isn't. I think this article will give you all the info you need:
