Getting Rubber Plant to Branch Out

I got a cutting from my mother’s rubber plant (house plant) that was only about an inch tall. It is now approximately 8 inches tall, but is just one stalk. How do I get it to branch out?

If you nip the top of it off, just a 1/4 inch or so, it will produce side shoots. That shoot that you nip though will not get any taller, so you may want to wait till it is a bit taller before nipping it.
