getting rid of mushrooms on house plant soil

Question

i read your article about Getting Rid Of Mushrooms Growing In Houseplant Soil and i would like some clarifications. i have been suffering from this problem for years now and it was never more then a nuisance until recently. 2 of my hibiscus are dead from leaf wilt and i am afraid of loosing more. i have done many things over the years. i change the soil every year and the top soil almost every 3 months. i change the pots too because i grew fed up with sterilizing them in the oven or with alcohol wipes. i have also tried a white powder fungicide that does nothing for me long term and is not recommended for use in pregnancy. i wanted to know if you had any ideas on a liquid fungicide that i could dilute in water and submerge the bast… ahem plants. it was suggested i try a javex solution but i don’t want to kill the helpful bacteria’s in the soil along with the pesky ones. i was also told a growth enhancer could help too. any info you could give would be great. from house remedies to store bought i don’t care anymore.

It may be that your houseplant soil is staying too wet, which promotes the growth of mushrooms. If you haven’t already sone so, try decreasing the frequency of watering and make sure the soil surface is dry between waterings. As long as the plants aren’t wilting from lack of water, they will be fine.

The next steps would be to change the soil brand or supplier you use, in case the usual brand contains a lot of mushroom spores, and to decrease the humidity in your house if possible. In terms of natural fungicides, neem products or the suggestions here could help:
