Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI bring in my Geraniums, dry the plants, knock off some dirt, place them in boxes until spring. Can I cut them back before I place them in the box for winter or do I have to wait till spring when I take them out to plant them outside? I usually wait till spring to cut them back, plant them and fertilize each week and get great results except it is a lot of work in the spring and I thought I could save time by cutting them back this fall before they rest for the winter. I look forward to your answer.

If you do not put your geraniums into dormancy for the winter, then you can prune geraniums in late fall or just before you bring them indoors. Prune them back by 1/3 to 1/2, focusing on stems that are woody or leggy.
