If I trim my gardenia in March, will I have any blooms this year?

It depends on the variety you have and how much you cut back. Most varieties bloom on both old growth produced the previous year and on new spring growth, so you will probably reduce flowering, but you may get some flowers on new spring growth. Other varieties bloom only on old growth from last year, so you’ll probably end up removing all the flower buds.
