fig tree that was started from a cutting

I have a fig tree that was started from a cutting that I bought as a potted plant. The problem is it has 6 figs and only 3 leaves, not sure if this is a problem but it looks homely and refuses to grow any taller. It’s a black mederia fig tree, so I was told. I live in southwest Florida in zone 10a. I’ve had it for about a year and it went dormant for about 3 months over the winter and started growing figs and leaves at the same time when it awoke. The leaves look healthy but I’m an auto mechanic not a botanist. Do have decent luck, but this has me confused.
