fig tree propagation

Question

I had a couple of fig tree cuttings under 2-litre bottles. When they started growing leaves, I removed the bottles and most of them died. What did I do wrong?

I think the transition was probably too quick for the plants. Next time harden them off for a few days to get them used to lower humidity conditions. You can do this by first removing the bottle cap, the next day propping the bottle a little off the ground, and the next day removing it for an hour at a time, etc.
