Fig tree

There are noodle like growths on the branch of my fig tree. They fall off as soon as you touch them. We knock them off and in a day or so they come back. The new shoots on the limb are growing fine. Please tell me what these growths are.
Thanks,
Kathy Giannini

This sounds like spindle galls.

Spindle galls are caused by a pest or insect.
Treatment is generally needed before the galls appear.
