Fig Ivy on Wire Mesh Fence

Will fig ivy do well on a 1-inch by 2-inch wire mesh fence inĀ southern Texas? What is the estimated growing time for a 5 foot height? What is the correct spacing when planting small starter plantĀ (size is 18 to a flat)? Plants will get approximately 60% sun.

These are actually fairly quick growers, so it should take too long to cover the area once established. In fact, you’ll probably find yourself having to prune at least a couple times each year to keep it under control.
