Ficus benjamina and neem oil

This question is for Downtoearthdigs, as you’ve been very helpful and are very knowledgeable. First off, thanks for all of your answers.

As for the question, you’ve recommended neem oil before. I’ve ordered some. All of my ficus’ are outside for the summer. All are doing well and do not appear to have any pests. Would a weekly or bi-weekly spray of neem oil (mixed with water obviously) be a good proactive thing for my trees? I want to keep them bug free and wasn’t sure if this would be a good preventative measure. Also, do you mix soap with 100% neem oil, or just spray it mixed with water? Will this injure or deform young new leaves?

Lastly, do you have any forum recommendations for amateur ficus growers like myself? I like this site, but it would be nice to ask a question, get an answer and be able to respond and follow up.

Thanks again!

I would not spray your plants with Neem Oil unless you see insects or fungus present.

You can wash the plants with a spray of water to keep them clean and rinse away harmless pests.

There are many manufacturers of Neem Oil, so always read the directions on the product and follow accordingly.
I use a product the you do not dilute and spray right from the bottle.

Neem Oil is safe for your young plants.

I would ask at your local garden centers or nursery’s if they know of any local garden clubs.
